Shawn Crossman was born and raised in Moncton, New Brunswick. He received his diploma in 1990 from Moncton High School. He is a self-employed entrepreneur who has owned and operated a sales and marketing company based out of the Atlantic Region since 1999.
Mr. Crossman volunteers with Lewisville Minor Hockey as a coach, has been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Moncton, and is an active member of St. Bernard’s Church. In 2012 he was appointed co-chair of the City of Moncton Operations Committee. Mr. Crossman is a member of the Irishtown Nature Park Committee, the Crossman Community Centre / Kay Arena Committee, the Public Safety Advisory Committee, the City of Moncton Service Excellence Oversight Committee, the Tri-Community RCMP Volunteer Policing Services Board as well as the Cities of New Brunswick Association Resolutions Committee.
In 2013 and 2014, he was appointed to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' (FCM) Standing Committee on Community Safety and Crime Prevention and the Standing Committee on International Relations. In 2014, he was appointed to the FCM Standing Committee on Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development as well as the FCM Atlantic Caucus. In 2015-2016, he was appointed to the FCM’s Standing Committee on Community Safety and Crime Prevention and Social-Economic Development. He is also a member of the joint committee with FCM, Corrections Services Canada and the National Parole Board.
In March 2015, Mr. Crossman was elected by the Southeast Regional Service Commission to the Southeast Regional Service Finance Committee. In May 2015, he was re-elected by council for his second term as Deputy Mayor and also elected 1st Vice-President of the Cities of New Brunswick Association.
Mr. Crossman comes from a political family. His late father, Norm Crossman, was a longtime councillor for Ward 1 and, in fact, was Canada’s longest-serving municipal politician when he passed away in 2008. He enjoys many outdoor activities such as playing hockey, hiking, golfing and camping. He is the proud father of Isabelle, a student at École l’Odyssée in Moncton. Mr. Crossman lives with his life partner, Beverly Dawson, Oncology Pharmacist at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.
